999 in an emergency

We wish to inform our patients that Dr Imran Khan will be leaving the practice at Christmas time.

We are in the process of recruiting two new partners to the practice and will keep patients informed of our progress.

We are delighted to let patients know that Dr Anxhela Lungari is to become a fulltime salaried GP with the practice together with Dr Raju Uppalapati from August 2015.

Thank you

Appointment DNA’s

Many patients fail to keep their appointments.  If patients do not cancel in advance we cannot give the slot to anyone else who really needs it.

This is costly for the practice and wastes staff time and resources.  Most of all it impacts on the length of time others have to wait for their appointments.

If you are unable to keep your appointment or no longer require it please let us know

How Information About You Helps Us To Provide Better Care

see below for further details

Appointments for smears are now available during the extended opening hours, on Monday evenings 6.30pm - 8.30pm.These can be booked in the usual way.

Please inform the practice if you are a registered organ/tissue donor. This information will be added to your medical record.

The Local Patient Participation Report is now available for you to read. This can be accessed via the Patient Participation Group page below.

We are currently looking to recruit more members of the Patient Participation Group - more details can be found on the page below.

Named GP for all patients

From 1st April 2015 onwards Practices were required, under the GMS contract, to allocate a named accountable GP to all patients, including children.

It is important that you are aware that this is purely an administrative exercise and does not change the way in which we operate or affect your ability to make an appointment or speak with any of the GP’s in the practice.

If you are unsure of your registered GP please ask a member of our reception team when you next attend the surgery.

Welcome to Briercliffe Medical Centre

We hope to use our surgery website as a way of presenting all our patients with an up to date resource for all information relating to our practice. We will keep it current with any news, developments & details that are relevant to the practice & our patients.

As well as a source of information about our Practice, the staff & the services we provide, we hope you use the website as a useful resource with links to other reliable websites for health related information. If there is topical health information we will also add this to the website.

Have a look around our website and please do send us some feedback. We can use your thoughts to improve our online services & further develop the website to make it a more useful, practical application for our patients.

There are currently two full-time partners, 2 salaried doctors and 2 locum doctors.  The Practice also has attached doctors at different levels: GP Registrars, who are in their final year of training. They are helped by a range of other professional and clerical staff whose duties are also briefly explained in this website.

Practice Area

The area covered by the practice covers areas of Burnley and Nelson in the vicinity of our premises. For detailed information please contact the surgery who can advise you of our practice boundaries. If you move out of this area it will be necessary to change doctors.

For further information please contact the offices of NHS England, Tel 01772 221444.

Disabled Access

The practice has suitable access for disabled patients including designated parking spaces. We have no steps at the entrance and automatic doors for ease of access to the building.
